The Bumble Bee companies were formed by CEO Dawn Matheson after more than 40 mainstream publishers swatted down the idea of her first book Ruby Lee The Bumble Bee ~ A Bee’s Bit Of Wisdom.

The company’s first production not only captured the hearts of children but also the attention of industry insiders with its strong sales pace and consistent five-star reviews. The once much rejected book went on to gain critical acclaim and earned several honors including two Benjamin Franklin Awards and a gold medallion at the International Gallery Awards, and was named "Most Outstanding Children's Book" at the Mom's Choice Awards.

With this success, the Ruby Lee franchise grew to include coloring and activity books, games, animated stories, eBooks, audio stories and songs, and a plush toy made by famous toy maker
Mary Meyer Toys.

Soon, Bumble Bee began attracting both new and well-known talent and today the Bumble Bee companies are known for creating quality, timeless works for children and for an unwavering commitment to the ongoing promotion of child literacy.
